Be Our Guest – Winner’s Review

Stef & Didi

Discover Ilkley, funded by Ilkley BID, is giving people the opportunity to enjoy some complimentary shopping or eating out.  To take part, they need to complete a simple form telling us a bit more about themselves, their family, their favourite Ilkley businesses and places they’ve seen but never tried out.

Each month, one lucky applicant is chosen to visit one of the places they have listed and treat themselves with a £30 – £50 voucher.

Winner, Sarah Brooke from Ilkley, chose to spend her £50 at Stef & Didi on Leeds Road.

Why did you choose Stef & Didi?
I’ve driven past a few times and it always looks busy and I know it’s dog friendly as I’ve seen dogs outside (we’ve got a puppy). I’m a private cleaner and a few of my clients have been and recommended it, especially the cakes and the Tiramisu. I’d heard the food and puddings are amazing so really wanted to take my family there.

When did you go?
We went on Saturday 10th August and booked a table for 4 at 6pm.

Who did you go with?
I went with my husband Nigel and my daughters Scarlett who’s 11 and Mia who’s 10.

What were your first impressions?
It’s small and intimate inside with 5 tables set up when we went. It’s very well decorated with a nice décor and very clean. You have to go up a couple of steps to get in and the toilet is downstairs. It’s got an outdoor decked area as well with a canopy. It’s a really nice place to be, run by mother and daughter Stef & Didi. They offer a take-away pizza service as well which is really popular.

What did you eat?
I had a lasagne which was light and lovely tasting. My husband had the Calzone which he ate all up without even offering me a bite, so it must’ve been good. 😊 Scarlett had a Margarita pizza which she enjoyed.

Mia’s a really fussy eater which I mentioned to Didi so she offered her a bespoke tagliatelle with a lasagne sauce. Mia absolutely loved it and devoured every last bit which is quite rare for her. It was really nice of them to go above and beyond to make sure she was happy.

We had a portion of garlic bread for starters which was amazing.
For pudding, I had the Tiramisu (of course!) which was wonderful, very strong as it should be. We also had an Italian speciality, Zappoline Nutella, which are donut balls, coated in cinnamon and Nutella. The girls had ice cream which they loved.

The portions were all really big and at the end of the meal, we were all happily stuffed! In fact, I couldn’t eat another mouthful!

For drinks, Nigel had 2 beers, I had a beer and the girls had diet coke.

How was the service?
The service was amazing. They were so friendly and helpful and as mentioned, they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy.

Were there any stand out moments?
All of it. We had such a lovely time.

Would you recommend?
Absolutely, and we will be going back. In fact, the girls have asked about 5 times when we’re going to go next.
In addition to the £50 voucher, we paid an extra £18 which I consider to be really good value for such a big meal and drinks for a family of four.

I recommend everyone to go. Thank you for the opportunity.
