Winner, Deborah McNeil from Burley in Wharfedale, chose to spend her £50 at Pranzo Italian Restaurant.
Why did you choose to spend your £50 at Pranzo?
I’d visited the restaurant when it was in Ben Rhydding but I hadn’t been back there since it moved into the centre of Ilkley. I don’t get to eat out very often, I like cooking at home, so it was a real treat.
When did you go?
My friend and I had a table booked for 6.45pm on Thursday 24th April. It was touch and go whether I’d be able to go as my dog was sick at the time, but in the end we got there for 7.15pm. I’d let the staff know and they were fine about it. I went with my friend who was running the London Marathon the following Sunday for MND so we thought it’d be a good opportunity for her to enjoy a hearty meal and do some ‘carb loading’ beforehand.
What was your first impression inside?
It’s a lot bigger than the Ben Rhydding restaurant, very nicely done out. It was fairly busy when we were there and there was a nice atmosphere.
What did you order to eat?
I had the Evening Set Menu, 2 courses for £20 with my main course being Belly Pork which was really tasty. My friend had crab croquettes which she enjoyed. She had 2 starters. We had a glass of wine and a ½ pint of cider. If I’m honest, I would have really liked an Italian pizza, but the lady who served us explained that the concept was homemade pasta dishes ‘inspired by Nonna’ and pizzas weren’t on the menu.
How was the service?
The young lady who served us was lovely, she was very efficient and knowledgeable about the dishes and it was a very good level of service.
Was it value for money?
Yes, especially with the set menus and the 2 courses for £20.
