So Let It Be: Collected Poems by Colin Speakman

Ilkley Manor House is proud to host the launch of So Let It Be: Collected Poems by Colin Speakman, a celebrated Yorkshire writer, campaigner, and author whose work has been deeply connected to the landscapes, history, and people of the region for decades.

This will not be a straight poetry reading. It will be an illustrated talk in four sections, separated by the interval, about Yorkshire landscape, history, people and our threatened natural environment, using words and images, so hopefully a rather different kind of evening.

Best known for his many books on Yorkshire’s countryside, walking, heritage and culture, Colin Speakman has also written poetry throughout his life.

So Let It Be brings together poems spanning more than sixty years, tracing the development of a distinctive poetic voice rooted in Yorkshire’s landscapes, stories and communities.

Join us on 28 August at 6:00pm for an evening celebrating poetry, Yorkshire identity and literary heritage in the historic surroundings of Ilkley Manor House.
