Ilkley Playhouse is proud to participate in the National Theatre Connections Festival for the fourth time. This year, our talented Greenroom players bring to life a gripping new work by BAFTA-nominated writer Sean Buckley.

The Story
Student teacher Sam arrives at a Youth Custody Secure Unit with an ambitious goal: to teach Philosophy. Initially met with resistance, the residents eventually find themselves empowered by this “ancient art of thinking.” However, for Gee—who is secretly terrified of her upcoming release—the hope Sam offers feels incredibly fragile. The Animals is a raw, provocative look at education, survival, and the hurdles facing young people in the justice system.
